Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko have confirmed the appointment of club legend Malik Jabir as their new Technical Director, replacing Sudan national team head coach James Kwesi Appiah in the role.
Jabir, a two-time CAF Champions League winner with the club, returns to the Porcupine Warriors in a key leadership position.
Appiah, who held the position since August 2023, will remain involved with the club as a member of the Interim Management Committee.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the club expressed their excitement over Jabir’s return.
“We are thrilled to announce the appointment of club legend and two-time CAF Champions League winner, Malik Jabir as the new technical director for the club,” the club said in a statement.
“Coach James Kwesi Appiah who recently held the position will remain as a member of the club’s management team. Welcome Malik.”
Appiah’s tenure as technical director saw him overseeing the club’s technical operations and contributing to player recruitment.
He played a key role in recommending the signing of several Sudanese players.
Despite his role at Kotoko, Appiah also manages the Sudan national team, juggling both responsibilities since his appointment last year.
