Malick Sanogo: Ivorian-American winger leaves FSV Schoningen to become a free agent

Malick Sanogo, the 22-year-old Ivorian-American winger, has joined the ranks of unattached players after leaving German club FSV Schoningen.

Sanogo’s departure was completed on 18 August 2026, bringing an end to his time with the Regionalliga Nord side. He is listed as a right winger and prefers his left foot, while also offering a physical presence at 1.85m.

The New York City-born player made one appearance in the Regionalliga Nord, playing 32 minutes. In the 2026-27 campaign, he featured once across four possible matches, recording nine minutes without a goal or assist.

Sanogo joined FSV Schoningen from Magdeburg II on 1 February 2026. That move followed his switch to Magdeburg II from Altglienicke at the start of the 2025-26 season, with both transfers recorded as free transfers.

His time at Altglienicke began in January 2025, after a period without a club following his departure from Nuremberg II. Before that, Sanogo had developed in the youth systems of Union Berlin, Altglienicke, Energie Cottbus and Werder Bremen.

The winger’s most notable individual achievement came during the 2022-23 season, when he finished as the top scorer in the A-Junioren Bundesliga North/Northeast with 17 goals. He was playing for Union Berlin’s youth setup at the time.

Sanogo’s senior career has so far taken him through several German clubs, including Nuremberg II, Altglienicke, Magdeburg II and FSV Schoningen. His latest move leaves him without a club as of 18 August 2026.

Sanogo has therefore completed his departure from FSV Schoningen and is now available as an unattached player.
