Malian Star Mahamadou Doumbia ruled out of the season after devastating ACL injury

Malian international Mahamadou Doumbia has seen his season come to a heartbreaking end after suffering a serious knee injury while in action for Al-Ittihad Club.

The midfielder was stretchered off during his side’s clash against Al-Kholood Club in the semi-finals of the Saudi King’s Cup.

Following medical examinations, Al-Ittihad have announced that Doumbia has sustained a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), ruling him out for the remainder of the current campaign.

The 21-year-old midfielder will undergo surgery in the coming days as part of his recovery process and is expected to be sidelined for several months.

It is a major blow for both player and club, with Doumbia having been an important figure in Al-Ittihad’s midfield setup. His absence will undoubtedly be felt as the team pushes to finish the campaign strongly.

For Doumbia, the focus now shifts to recovery and rehabilitation, as he begins the long road back with hopes of returning stronger to both club and country.

This season, the midfielder has made 34 appearances across competitions for the Saudi Pro League outfit, scoring four goals and providing seven assists.
