MALI: TOWARDS A LIFTING OF THE BAN ON PLAYING AT HOME!

Mali Afrique Sud8 300x199 1

Mali has received assurances from FIFA that the ban on hosting international matches in the country has been lifted. The ban was imposed due to security concerns related to the socio-political situation in Mali. Following a visit from a FIFA delegation in January, Mali has been given the green light to host international matches on its home turf. This development allows Mali to welcome Rwanda and Benin to Bamako for the 4th and 5th rounds of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers in June. The improvement in the overall security situation in the country has contributed to the decision to lift the ban. Mali currently shares the top spot in Group H with Algeria.
