Mali international striker Sekou Koita has bid farewell to Red Bull Salzburg after five years, joining CSKA Moscow in a new chapter of his career.
Koita’s contract with Salzburg expired at the end of June, and he opted for a fresh start in Russia.
During his time at Salzburg, he scored 37 goals in 76 Bundesliga games and appeared in 11 Champions League matches.
Koita’s journey began in Mali, then moved to Austria, where he played for FC Liefering and Wolfsberger AC before joining Salzburg.
He was linked to German clubs like Bochum and Leverkusen but ultimately chose CSKA Moscow.
The Russian club finished sixth last season and will not participate in international competitions due to Russia’s exclusion from European competitions.
Koita expressed enthusiasm about his new challenge, stating, “CSKA is a big club, and I’m happy to sign with them. I hope we can achieve many victories and win trophies for the fans.”
Koita aims to continue shining on the pitch and conquer new heights with the Russian giants.
