Mali star Aliou Dieng set for Valencia switch as Al Ahly hunt for replacement
Mali international Aliou Dieng has made a decisive call on his future, opting not to renew his contract with Al Ahly SC ahead of the 2026 summer window.
Dieng’s current deal with the Red Devils runs until June 2026, with the midfielder reported to have finalized an agreement with Spanish side Valencia CF, paving the way for a move to La Liga.
However, the Egyptian giants has begun the process to capture a suitable successor, prioritizing the signing of a foreign defensive midfielder to fill the void expected to be left by Dieng’s departure.
The Cairo giants view the midfield position as critical to their domestic and continental ambitions next season, and recruitment efforts are already underway to secure a strong replacement.
Interestingly, Al Ahly had previously blocked Dieng’s exit during the last winter transfer window after receiving an offer from Valencia. At the time, the club was determined to retain one of its most influential players as it competed on multiple fronts.
Dieng joined Al Ahly in 2019 from MC Alger and quickly established himself as a cornerstone of the team’s midfield with his strength, discipline, and tactical intelligence.
Now, after years of service and silverware in Cairo, Dieng appears set for a new European chapter — leaving Al Ahly with the urgent task of rebuilding a key area of their squad.
