Mali star Aliou Dieng agrees to extend contract with Egyptian giants Al Ahly
Mali international Aliou Dieng has agreed to extend his contract with Egyptian football heavyweights Al Ahly, Africasoccer.com can report.
Dieng, who is set to represent Mali at the AFCON 2025 had previously turned down several contract renewal offers from Al Ahly as they fell short to his expectation.
However, after a lengthy meeting between the club hierarchy and the Mali star, a breakthrough was achieved, with the enterprising defensive midfielder agreeing to extend his stay at the club.
Al-Ahly initially offered Dieng an annual salary of $1.25 million, which fell below the players expectations.
Following an improved annual salary of $1.3 million, including a percentage of advertising and television programs, the midfielder has agreed to commit his future for Al Ahly.
The 28-year-old midfielder is expected to put pen to paper after the closure of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco. He is expected to sign a three-year contract extension with the record Champions League holders.
Dieng joined the Egyptian powerhouse in 2019 and has since established himself as a key member of the team. Despite having a running contract until 2027, Al Ahly have moved to extend his stay for further three season.
