The Ministry of Youth and Sports of Mali has reportedly directed the Malian Football Federation to part ways with head coach Tom Saintfiet after the national team’s underwhelming performance at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Mali’s premature elimination from the continental showpiece has drawn sharp criticism from fans and stakeholders, prompting calls for sweeping changes within the technical setup.
The Sports Ministry is believed to be advocating a restructuring process aimed at reshaping the direction of the national side.
The reported move comes shortly after Saintfiet dismissed speculation that he had resigned.
The Belgian tactician maintained that he remains fully committed to his role and determined to steer the team forward in the aftermath of the AFCON disappointment.
FEMAFOOT has yet to release an official response to the Ministry’s alleged directive, leaving Saintfiet’s future with the Eagles hanging in the balance.
Saintfiet was appointed in August 2024 on a two-year contract, with the option for an extension.
