Al Ahly midfielder Aliou Dieng is set to embark on a new chapter in Spain after reportedly signing a contract to join La Liga side Valencia this summer as a free agent.

According to reports, the Mali international completed the move in the final hours of Monday, with Valencia securing his signature electronically on a three-year deal.

The development effectively ends Al Ahly’s hopes of extending Dieng’s stay, despite efforts by officials at the Egyptian giants to convince the influential midfielder to renew his contract.

Dieng has been a key figure for Al Ahly since arriving in 2019 from Algerian side Mouloudia Club, establishing himself as a reliable presence in midfield.

He also spent last season on loan at Saudi club Al-Kholood during the tenure of Swiss coach Marcel Koller.

This season, Dieng has featured 31 times across all competitions for Al Ahly, contributing one goal — a strike against Tanzania’s Young Africans in the group stage of the CAF Champions League.

The 26-year-old is currently on international duty with Mali, as he prepares to feature in a friendly against Russia, scheduled for Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM Cairo time.
