BOUBACAR BABA DIARRA REMOVED AS PRESIDENT OF FEMAFOOT
A major development has occurred in Malian football. On Sunday, Boubacar Baba Diarra was dismissed from his role as President of the Malian Football Federation (Femafoot) during an extraordinary general meeting, initiated by 31 of the 55 eligible voters.
Elected in 2013, Diarra had been facing increasing opposition in recent weeks. The crisis culminated in the assembly, which also led to the departure of about ten members of his executive committee. The meeting cited Article 37 of Femafoot’s statutes, which permits such actions and mandates the implementation of its resulting resolutions.
To steer Malian football forward during this transitional period, former Sports Minister Mamadou Dipa Fané has been appointed to lead a normalization committee, tasked with restoring stability within the federation.
