Internal Turmoil Hits Mali Football Federation Amid Resignations and Suspensions
The Mali Football Federation is currently engulfed in a deep internal crisis following a series of high-profile departures and suspensions. Moussa Bah, who served as the federation president’s representative, was dismissed, while Yéli Sissoko, chairman of the Finance Committee, has been suspended from all federation activities until the next General Assembly.
Adding to the instability, Bassalifou Sylla, president of the Legal Commission of Djoliba AC and a key member of the federation’s executive office, has announced his resignation. Speaking to maliweb.net, Sylla expressed frustration with the federation’s leadership and the ongoing dysfunction.
“I submitted my letter of resignation yesterday,” Sylla revealed. “I can no longer work with President Boubacar Baba Diarra and Secretary General Yacouba Traoré, also known as Yacoubadjan. First Vice President Boukary Sidibé, known as Kolon, tried everything to convince me to stay, but the issues run too deep. I wish all our national teams the best. If my resignation can help stop the violations and dysfunction, then it will have served its purpose.”
The developments raise serious questions about governance and leadership within the federation. The football community now awaits an official response from Mali Football Federation president Boubacar Baba Diarra regarding Sylla’s departure and the broader internal turmoil.
