Daouda Guindo is expected to continue his career in France with a move to Stade de Reims, as the 23-year-old prepares to leave Stade Brestois on a free transfer.

According to reports from sources, the Malian defender is on the verge of completing a long-term deal with the Ligue 2 side after just one season in Brittany.

A Short Stint at Brest

Guindo arrived at Stade Brestois last summer after the expiration of his contract with Austrian outfit Red Bull Salzburg. He signed a one-year agreement with Les Ty-Zéfs and quickly became a regular feature in the squad, making 26 appearances across all competitions, including 25 in Ligue 1. During his time on the pitch, he contributed one goal and one assist.

Decision Not to Extend His Stay

Despite a fairly active season, Guindo will not be continuing at Brest beyond his initial deal. The club and player have opted not to extend his stay, opening the door for a new challenge elsewhere in France.

Reims Project Under New Leadership

Guindo is now set to step down into Ligue 2 with Stade de Reims, where he is expected to sign a five-year contract with Les Stadistes, according to Onze Mondial. The move comes at a transitional moment for the club, which has recently appointed Nicolas Usai as head coach ahead of the new season.

Reims’ Push for a Top-Flight Return

The transfer also reflects Reims’ broader ambition to recover from a disappointing campaign that saw them miss out on the promotion play-offs. The club will be targeting an immediate return to Ligue 1, with Guindo expected to play a part in rebuilding the squad for that objective.
