Tom Saintfiet, the coach of Malawi, resigned after the team’s defeat to Nigeria in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers. Saintfiet had set qualification for the play-offs as a personal objective, and after failing to achieve that goal with the loss to Nigeria, he decided to step down. He mentioned that his contract with the Malawi Football Federation ended on Sunday, and he is not worried about his future. Saintfiet had taken charge of Malawi in June but was unable to guide them to the play-offs.
