RC lens defender Malang Sarr has finally opened the door to representing Senegal at the international level after failing to break into the French national team.
The 26-year-old represented France at all youth level, without making any appearances for the senior team.
However, the former Chelsea defender has now opened the door to representing his native country at the international level.
“If Senegal call, I will be there and would be honoured to answer the call,” he told Taggat. “You have to deserve a call-up and you have to go chasing after it. You have to work hard for it. It is up to me to perform,” he said.
Sarr, who was tipped to attain greater heights of his career never step-up. His outstanding performance at Nice earned him a move to Chelsea back in 2020, however, his progress then stalled.
Loan spells at FC Porto and AS Monaco did not get his career back on-track and he left the Blues on a free transfer in the summer after a mutual contract termination was agreed with the Premier League side. He has since got his career back on track at RC Lens. The centre-back has made 22 appearances in all competitions this season.
