Abdul Majeed Waris Attracts Interest Amid Transfer Speculation
Ghanaian striker Abdul Majeed Waris remains a hot commodity on the transfer market, despite his agent’s recent denial of any formal offer from French club Racing Club de Lens. According to Phil Radley, a close source, “There is also interest from abroad. If a club can agree on the transfer fee demanded by Spartak Moscow, discussions can take place.”
Waris, currently contracted to Spartak Moscow until 2017, enjoyed a successful six-month spell in France last season with Valenciennes, where he scored nine goals in 16 appearances. His strong performances have sparked growing interest across Belgium, as several clubs seek to bolster their attacking options.
Reports suggest that Standard Liège is actively pursuing Waris as a potential replacement for Michy Batshuayi, who recently departed for Olympique de Marseille. The Belgian side is reportedly looking to secure the Ghanaian striker on loan, with an option to buy included in the deal.
Waris, who previously played in Sweden, has expressed reservations about staying long-term in the Russian league, increasing the likelihood of a move elsewhere.
As the summer transfer window progresses, attention will remain on Waris and his next destination, with several clubs poised to enter negotiations with Spartak Moscow.
