German Bundesliga side 1. FSV Mainz 05 have bolstered their attacking options with the signing of Congolese forward Silas Katompa Mvumpa.
The club confirmed in an official announcement on Tuesday, January 6.
The 27-year-old joins Mainz from VfB Stuttgart, although the club did not disclose details regarding the length of his contract.
Mainz sporting director Niko Bungert expressed his satisfaction with the acquisition, highlighting the qualities Silas brings to the team.
“We are delighted to have signed Silas for Mainz 05. Everyone immediately associates him with speed, assertiveness in one-on-one situations, and a goal threat, qualities he has already impressively demonstrated at VfB Stuttgart. Silas is a valuable addition to our squad and brings new dimensions to our attacking play,” Bungert said.
Silas also shared his excitement about the move, underlining his eagerness to return to Bundesliga action.
“I’m really looking forward to showing what I can do for Mainz 05 in the future. The talks with the club were very good and characterised by great appreciation. I’m eager to finally be back on the pitch in the Bundesliga and can hardly wait for it to finally start,” he stated.
