Mahmud Otubu: Nigerian winger joins Sha Tin on free transfer from Supreme

Nigerian right winger Mahmud Otubu has joined Hong Kong Premier League side Sha Tin on a free transfer from Supreme.

The 22-year-old, born in Lagos, moves up from the Hong Kong First Division after helping Supreme to the Hong Kong Second League title in the 2025-26 season. His switch to Sha Tin was completed on 9 July 2026 as a permanent free transfer.

Otubu, who stands at 1.80m and plays primarily on the right of attack, arrives with an impressive record in Hong Kong football. Across league and cup competitions, he has scored 42 goals and provided 46 assists in 74 appearances, underlining his threat both as a finisher and creator. In league action alone he has registered 36 goals and 43 assists in 65 matches, averaging a goal roughly every 151 minutes.

Before his spell at Supreme, Otubu was part of the Citizen side that won the Hong Kong Second League in 2024-25, having initially joined them from 96 Champions. During the 2023-24 campaign he also had a loan stint at Wong Tai Sin, where he gained further experience in local competition before returning to Citizen and later switching to Supreme.

Otubu, a right-footed attacker, now steps into the top tier with Sha Tin after winning consecutive Second League titles with two different clubs, completing his move from Supreme as a free agent.
