Mahmoud El Halawani: Modern Sport sign Egyptian centre-back from El Sekka SC on long-term deal

Modern Sport have signed Egyptian defender Mahmoud El Halawani from El Sekka SC, with the 28-year-old centre-back moving to the Premier League side on a completed transfer. El Halawani has agreed a contract running until 30 June 2029 after his switch was finalised on 8 July 2026.

The left-footed centre-back, who stands at 1.95m, strengthens Modern Sports defensive options ahead of the new campaign. His move comes after a two-season spell with El Sekka SC, whom he joined in September 2024.

El Halawani previously spent three years at La Viena FC, earning a transfer to El Sekka SC in 2024. That switch followed his departure from Zamaleks youth ranks, where he had been part of the U21 set-up before stepping into senior football.

The defender has already gained experience in domestic cup competition, featuring in the Egypt Cup and amassing over 200 minutes of playing time in that tournament. Modern Sport have moved to secure him on a deal that ties him to the club for three years.

El Halawani now becomes part of Modern Sports squad in the Egyptian Premier League after completing his move from El Sekka SC.
