Zamalek have secured the long-term services of Moroccan left-back Mahmoud Bentayg, signing him on a permanent deal until June 2028.
The 24-year-old initially joined the Cairo giants on loan from French club Saint-Etienne last summer, with an option to buy set at €1 million. After impressing throughout the season, Zamalek exercised the clause to keep him at the club for three more years.
Bentayg has been a key figure for the White Knights, making 21 appearances in all competitions, contributing one goal and three assists. His performances were instrumental in Zamalek’s CAF Super Cup victory over arch-rivals Ahly in September 2024.
The Moroccan’s consistency saw him claim a regular starting role, pushing former Egypt international Ahmed Fatouh to the bench.
With Bentayg now locked into a long-term contract, Zamalek will look to build on their campaign as they chase domestic and continental success. The club sits third in the Egyptian Premier League with 32 points, trailing second-placed Ahly by four and leaders Pyramids FC by ten.
