Mahmoud Bassiouny to referee Al Ahly’s Egyptian Premier League meeting with Al Mokawloon Al Arab

Mahmoud Bassiouny has been appointed referee for Al Ahly’s Egyptian Premier League match against Al Mokawloon Al Arab in the fourth round of the competition.

The appointment was announced by the Egyptian Football Association’s referees committee, chaired by Essam Abdel-Fattah, ahead of the fixture.

Bassiouny will be assisted by Mahmoud Abou El Regall and Ahmed Hossam Taha. Mohamed Abdel Aleem has been selected as the fourth official.

Wail Farhan will take charge of the video assistant referee system, with El-Sayed Shaaban acting as his assistant.

The fixture will be Bassiouny’s latest assignment involving Al Ahly. He has previously refereed 15 matches involving the club across different competitions, with Al Ahly winning 11, drawing three and losing two.

One of those defeats came in the widely remembered Cairo derby match from which Al Ahly withdrew.

The refereeing appointments also include the meeting between Pyramids FC and El Gouna. Sobhi El Amrawy has been named referee for that match, supported by assistants Maged El-Meligy and Ragab Mohamed.

Amr El-Sayed will serve as the fourth official, while Hisham El Kady has been chosen as the video referee. Mahmoud El-Desouky will assist him in the VAR operation.

The announcements cover the match officials for both Egyptian Premier League fixtures, with Bassiouny taking responsibility for the Al Mokawloon Al Arab v Al Ahly game and El Amrawy overseeing Pyramids FC’s match against El Gouna.
