Mahmoud El Khatib, the respected Chairman of Al Ahly SC, has officially confirmed he will seek re-election as club president when members vote on October 31.
His decision comes after weeks of speculation, particularly regarding his health, which he has openly addressed.
In his statement, Al-Khatib shared: “The great members and fans of Al-Ahly Club, I have always pledged to live up to the responsibility, putting Al-Ahly’s interests before my own, out of love and gratitude for this great entity, which deserves all credit after God Almighty. For nearly 55 years, Al-Ahly Club has been—and continues to be—my first destination and the source of my happiness and pride.”
Though he admitted his health challenges, Al-Khatib noted: “While I apologize for not running for a new term, I was deeply moved by the feelings and support of the Al Ahly club’s members and great fans… My sincere thanks and appreciation to all of them.”
Al-Khatib’s candidacy list includes Yassin Mansour as deputy, Khaled Mortagy as treasurer, and prominent board members who will work alongside him to sustain Al Ahly’s sporting and administrative legacy.
