TS Galaxy interim coach Esau Mtsweni says Seluleko Mahlambi remains committed to the club and has not been distracted by speculation over his future.
The 22-year-old winger was the subject of a reported R4m bid from Kaizer Chiefs, which Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi said he rejected during an interview with Metro FM a few weeks ago.
Mahlambi was in outstanding form for Galaxy last season, scoring six goals and providing six assists in six games across all competitions. However, he has yet to score or register an assist in eight appearances across all tournaments this season.
His drop in form has led to suggestions that the transfer interest may have affected him, but Mtsweni rejected that explanation and said the player remained in a positive frame of mind.
“As far as I know, Mahlambi is okay. He is focused, and he wants to be here. He’s always giving his best,” Mtsweni said.
The interim coach also declined to discuss the details of any offers for Mahlambi, saying he could only speak about the winger’s commitment to TS Galaxy.
“I spoke to him; he said he wants to be here until whatever happens will happen,” the Rockets caretaker mentor said.
Mahlambi has been an influential figure for Galaxy in recent times, and his lack of goals and assists has coincided with a difficult start to the campaign for the club.
Galaxy have won only one of their 10 matches in all competitions this season. They have also suffered five defeats and recorded four draws.
That run has left the club just two points clear of the relegation zone.
Their next match is an away league fixture against Stellenbosch on November 27.
