Zamalek has completed the signing of experienced goalkeeper Mahdi Suleiman on a free transfer, strengthening their squad ahead of the upcoming season.
The former Al-Ittihad Alexandria shot-stopper agreed to a three-year contract following talks that began just a week ago.
Suleiman, who had been without a club, quickly expressed his desire to join the Cairo giants and reached out to Zamalek’s sporting director, John Edward, to facilitate discussions.
“It was agreed that the player would receive a salary of approximately 8 million pounds per season, after deducting taxes, on a three-year contract,” a source at the club confirmed.
The 37-year-old completed the official photoshoot after putting pen to paper, and he is now expected to compete for a starting role as the White Knights aim to bounce back from a disappointing campaign last year.
Zamalek’s board hopes Suleiman’s arrival brings stability between the posts as they prepare for the new Egyptian Premier League season, which kicks off on August 8.
This move is one of several planned to rebuild the squad and restore the club’s status among the league’s best.
