The former AS Saint-Étienne midfielder has seamlessly transitioned to the demands of the Champions League, proving himself as a key figure for his club. His standout performances include scoring in the 2-0 victory over Red Bull Salzburg during the group stage, a testament to his growth and maturity on the pitch.
In a recent interview with L’Équipe, Camara shared one of the personal choices that has contributed to his success.
“I don’t have a wife or children. For me, it’s football,” he said, explaining how his commitment to the sport remains his top priority.
“Starting a family is a goal in life, but it’s not something I think about every day. I have my career to manage, and I’m happy like this.”
Camara emphasized that his singular focus on football has been crucial in helping him maintain peak performance.
He revealed that while he enjoys spending time with friends, including his best friend who plays for Voltigeurs de Châteaubriant in France’s fourth tier, he has largely dedicated himself to his career.
“I fill my solitude by playing matches and spending time with friends or chatting on the phone,” he said.
Reflecting on his earlier years, the Martigues native admitted that he once led a more social lifestyle but soon recognized that such habits were incompatible with the professional demands of football.
“When I was younger, I used to go out more. But with experience, I realized that if I wanted to make my passion my profession, I needed to be as efficient as possible,” Camara explained.
“Today, I prefer staying at home—I’m not locked up or anything, but I enjoy the peace. I still visit friends sometimes.”
This focused approach has undoubtedly paid off, with Camara consistently meeting the high standards required at both domestic and European levels.
His discipline and dedication are helping him thrive in an environment as demanding as the Champions League, where he continues to be a key player for Stade Brestois. As his career progresses, it’s clear that Camara’s commitment to football remains unwavering, with his performances reflecting the maturity and balance he has found both on and off the pitch.
