Maghreb Fez have stepped up efforts to sign Morocco international Youssef En-Nesyri after the striker became a free agent, with the club looking to strengthen its squad ahead of a return to the CAF Champions League.

The Moroccan side have reportedly submitted an official offer to the 28-year-old following Al-Ittihad’s decision to end his contract. En-Nesyri is understood to be open to joining his hometown club as he considers the next step in his career.

Champions League return drives recruitment

Maghreb Fez are keen to bolster their attacking options before the new campaign, with continental football returning to the club’s schedule.

En-Nesyri has emerged as the club’s preferred replacement for Soufiane Benjedida, who is expected to leave after attracting interest from clubs in Europe and the Gulf.

Landing the experienced Morocco international would provide Maghreb Fez with a proven goalscorer as they prepare to compete on both the domestic and continental fronts.

Experienced striker available after Saudi spell

En-Nesyri enjoyed an impressive campaign with Fenerbahçe before moving to Saudi Arabia, scoring 20 goals and registering four assists in 34 Turkish Süper Lig appearances last season.

He completed a switch to Al-Ittihad in February 2026 and featured in six Saudi Pro League matches, starting each of those games after joining the club on 3 February.

Although the striker had signed a two-and-a-half-year contract that was due to run until June 2028, Al-Ittihad have since terminated the agreement, allowing En-Nesyri to become available on a free transfer this summer.

His availability has now opened the door for Maghreb Fez to pursue one of Morocco’s most accomplished forwards as they seek to build a squad capable of making an impact in the CAF Champions League.
