Maghreb Fez coach heaps praise on players

Maghreb Fez head coach Pablo Franco has voiced his delight after his side’s impressive victory over Wydad Athletic Club on Sunday, praising both the result and the performance that delivered it.

The Spanish tactician chose to dedicate the triumph to the entire MAS fraternity, highlighting the collective effort of the players, technical bench, medical team, and the supporters whose backing continues to inspire the squad.

Reflecting on the journey so far, Franco underlined the emotional significance of the moment, noting how far the team has come in a relatively short time.

“It’s only half a season, but 10 months have passed. When we started, we had nothing, and the players didn’t expect to achieve what we have. Some of them deserve to play in the World Cup,” he argued.

According to the MAS coach, the team executed a well-structured tactical plan with discipline and composure, showing a level of maturity that stood out throughout the encounter.

He further stressed that the win was not a matter of luck but the product of careful preparation, tactical intelligence, and a strong collective mentality. The players’ ability to follow instructions under pressure, he suggested, reflects qualities that go beyond domestic competition and point to readiness for the global stage.

Franco, who took charge on a one-year deal beginning July 1, 2025, with an option to extend, arrived with a rich coaching résumé. His experience includes spells in Spain with Getafe CF and within the setup of Real Madrid Castilla.

His managerial journey also spans multiple regions, having worked with Al-Qadisiyah FC, Al-Faisaly FC, Simba SC, and AmaZulu FC, giving him a deep understanding of both African and Arab football environments.
