Magesi facing further squad changes as Rademeyer nears exit and Sibiya move advances

Magesi FC’s post-relegation reshuffle looks set to continue, with midfielder Kayden Rademeyer in talks over a departure while former University of Pretoria defender Vusi Sibiya closes in on a move to the Limpopo club.

Rademeyer, 27, is discussing an exit from Magesi despite featuring regularly in their Betway Premiership campaign last season. The midfielder made 22 appearances in all competitions as the side were relegated to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

His potential departure comes shortly after Magesi confirmed more than 10 exits following the drop from the top flight, indicating that the overhaul of the squad is still under way.

Defensive reinforcements lined up

While Rademeyer appears likely to move on, Magesi are understood to be on the brink of securing the services of experienced centre-back Vusi Sibiya.

Sibiya is currently a free agent after being released by University of Pretoria following just one season with AmaTuks in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. He struggled to establish himself at the club, with injuries hampering his progress under head coach Kwanele Kopo.

Kopo has since left University of Pretoria after the side finished 11th in the Championship standings.

Sibiya is now close to agreeing a deal with Magesi, who are intent on mounting an immediate push for promotion back to the Premiership at the first opportunity. The club view his experience as valuable in reinforcing a defence that will be central to that objective.

Key defender commits to new deal

Amid the ongoing changes, Magesi have moved to secure the future of one of their most highly regarded defenders.

The club have tied down promising centre-back Diteboho Mofokeng on a new contract, having identified the tall defender as a central figure in their plans for the coming campaign.

Mofokeng made 19 appearances in all competitions for Magesi last season and is seen internally as one of the key players around whom their promotion challenge will be built.

Promotion the clear target

Magesi’s transfer activity reflects a clear strategy: trim the squad after relegation, retain emerging talent and add experience where possible as they target an immediate return to the Premiership.

With Rademeyer potentially leaving, Sibiya likely arriving and Mofokeng secured on fresh terms, the Limpopo side’s rebuild is gathering pace ahead of the new Motsepe Foundation Championship season.
