ZED FC have parted ways with coach Magdy Abdel-Aaty after a disappointing end to the first phase of the Egyptian Premier League left the club battling to avoid relegation.
“The departure of Magdy Abdel-Aaty from coaching ZED FC’s first team. Thank you for everything,” the club announced on their official social media accounts.
Despite collecting 21 points, ZED FC slipped into the relegation group, with Petrojet’s last-gasp win over Ghazl El-Mahalla sealing their fate. Now, they enter a high-stakes survival playoff, where nine teams (positions 10–18) will fight to stay in the top flight. Only two will face the drop ahead of the 2024/25 season.
Abdel-Aaty, who took charge in July 2022, was instrumental in guiding ZED FC to promotion before securing a seventh-place finish last season. However, the current campaign has proven far more challenging.
Reports suggest former Egypt assistant coach Hamada Sedki is set to take over for the remainder of the season.
ZED FC begin their survival bid against Ghazl El-Mahalla on Wednesday, March 12.
