Guinea international Mady Camara attracts interest from clubs across Europe

Guinea international Mady Camara has rejected a reported offer from Saudi Arabia as several European clubs continue to show interest in the PAOK Thessaloniki midfielder.

The 29-year-old remains under contract with the Greek club but has attracted attention from teams in Europe and the Middle East as the transfer window approaches its final stages.

According to Foot Mercato, Camara turned down a Saudi Arabian proposal worth an estimated €1.8m net per year. Despite the financial appeal of the offer, the midfielder is understood to prefer continuing his career in a competitive European league.

Camara’s experience is one of the factors behind the interest in his services. The Guinea international has previously played for AC Ajaccio, Olympiacos and AS Roma, giving him experience across several leagues and at different levels of European football.

Interest in the midfielder is not limited to one country. Clubs from Turkey, Russia, Qatar and Saudi Arabia have reportedly considered Camara, while several teams in France, Spain and Italy have also recently made contact with his representatives.

SC Freiburg are among the clubs reportedly monitoring his situation, according to exclusive information from Africasoccer.

The German side’s interest adds another potential destination to the list of clubs following the 29-year-old’s situation.

PAOK, meanwhile, are understood to be looking to reduce their wage bill and would be open to Camara leaving if a suitable offer arrives.

However, until a convincing proposal is made, the Greek club continue to consider the midfielder part of their squad.

Camara still has a significant period remaining on his current contract. His agreement with PAOK runs until 30 June 2027, while his estimated market value is €5m.

That contractual situation means any club seeking to sign him would need to reach an agreement with PAOK.

For Camara, the immediate priority appears to be finding a move that allows him to remain in Europe rather than accepting a transfer to Saudi Arabia.

His decision to reject the reported €1.8m-a-year proposal has kept the door open for European clubs, with interest continuing to emerge as the transfer window moves towards its conclusion.

Kanfory Sylla has also offered his view on where the midfielder could fit should he leave PAOK.

“If he were to leave, Lille would be an ideal club for him.”

With PAOK willing to consider his departure and several clubs monitoring his situation, Camara’s future remains open.
