Madueke boost and Saka blow for Arsenal ahead of Manchester City showdown
Mikel Arteta has delivered a mixed update on Noni Madueke and Bukayo Saka as Arsenal prepare for a crucial clash with Manchester City, with one key winger pushing to be involved and another definitely ruled out.
Madueke was forced off with a knee problem in Arsenal’s previous match, but Arteta struck a hopeful tone about his chances of making the City game. “We have another training session tomorrow. It didn’t look that bad after the game, and he is someone who pushes through pain. But we will have to wait and see.”
On the opposite flank, the news is far less positive. Arteta confirmed that Saka will not feature against City, a major blow given his importance in big games. “Bukayo is out. That is for sure,” the manager admitted, underlining the challenge Arsenal face in replacing his creativity and work rate on the right side.
With Manchester City looming, Arsenal’s hopes of maintaining their title push may hinge on Madueke winning his race for fitness, while they adapt their attacking plan without Saka on one of the biggest nights of the season.
