Madrid: Benzema and Varane Doubts for Levante Clash
Real Madrid could be without Karim Benzema and Raphaël Varane for their upcoming La Liga fixture against Levante, after both players reportedly woke up with a fever on Friday morning. Head coach Carlo Ancelotti confirmed the news during his pre-match press conference.
“Varane and Benzema woke up with a fever. I don’t think they will be available for tomorrow,” Ancelotti stated.
The potential absence of Sergio Ramos, who is recovering from a calf injury, adds to Madrid’s defensive worries. Nacho Fernández is expected to partner Pepe in central defense if Ramos and Varane are both ruled out.
On the attacking front, Benzema’s absence could hand a first league start to Javier “Chicharito” Hernández, or prompt a reshuffle involving James Rodríguez or Isco in a more advanced position.
