Madjid Bougherra to address media ahead of Algeria A’ team’s friendlies against Egypt
Algeria’s A’ national team coach Madjid Bougherra will hold a press conference this Sunday, 9 November, ahead of a double friendly clash against Egypt in Cairo later this month, the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has announced.
According to a statement released on Thursday, the briefing will take place at 10:30 a.m. in the Mohamed Sellah conference room at Nelson Mandela Stadium in Baraki.
Bougherra is expected to discuss his squad’s preparations and objectives as they build towards the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025, scheduled from 1 to 18 December.
The two matches against Egypt — set for 14 and 17 November — form a key part of Algeria’s preparation for the regional competition.
The national A’ squad, which is composed mainly of players from the domestic league, will begin a training camp in Cairo from 10 to 18 November, coinciding with the FIFA international window.
During this period, Bougherra will use the back-to-back fixtures to fine-tune his tactics and assess player performances ahead of next month’s tournament in Qatar, where Algeria are among the favourites to contend for the title.
The friendly meetings will serve as the second major test for the Algerian side this autumn.
Last month, Bougherra’s men faced Palestine twice in Annaba as part of an earlier preparation camp held from 6 to 14 October.
The Greens dominated the first match, winning 3–0, before falling 1–0 in the return fixture on 13 October at the May 19, 1956 Stadium.
Those encounters, according to the FAF, allowed the coaching staff to experiment with different formations and evaluate several players across various tactical roles.
The matches also helped strengthen the group’s collective understanding and on-field chemistry — key areas Bougherra has been eager to refine ahead of the Arab Cup.
The upcoming camp in Cairo is expected to further shape Algeria’s readiness, offering valuable competitive minutes against a strong Egyptian side with similar ambitions for the continental stage.
As anticipation builds for Sunday’s press conference, attention will be on Bougherra’s remarks about his player selections, tactical approach, and the lessons drawn from the team’s recent performances.
His insights will likely shed light on how Algeria intend to approach their Arab Cup campaign, as they aim to replicate the success of their 2021 triumph in Qatar.
