Madjid Bougherra seems to be heading further away from England and closer to the Gulf region. Though Derby County had been linked to him, it looks unlikely now that he’ll join them.
At 31, the Algerian captain is reportedly in talks with Emirati club Al Fujairah, newly promoted to the UAE Premier League. The club has already signed Chilean international Jorge Valdivia for three years, showing serious ambition.
Bougherra is also considering offers from Turkey, notably Trabzonspor, but the UAE option appears most promising at the moment. Since leaving Lekhwiya in Qatar in May, he’s been without a club and said during the World Cup he’s in no rush, preferring to take his time finding the right fit.
