Madjid Bougherra Signs Two-Year Deal with Al Fujairah in UAE
Algerian international defender Madjid Bougherra has officially joined Al Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates, signing a two-year contract with the club.
Bougherra expressed his happiness at the move, telling local media on Monday, “This is a new challenge for me. I am happy to join Al Fujairah, which remains a big club in the Emirates.”
The 32-year-old is continuing his career in the Gulf region after three seasons with Lekhwiya in Qatar. Despite interest from Cardiff City following his World Cup performances with Algeria, no formal offer materialised. Instead, Bougherra opted to remain in the Middle East, committing to Al Fujairah.
Although in the later stages of his career, Bougherra remains focused on maintaining his competitive edge. He is determined to finish his international career strongly, aiming to help Algeria qualify for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, with qualifiers starting in September.
