Yacine Benzia Sidelined for 4 to 6 Weeks with Serious Ankle Sprain
Bad news for Olympique Lyonnais: Yacine Benzia, one of their promising young talents, will be out of action for four to six weeks after suffering a serious ankle sprain during the Coupe de la Ligue Round of 16 match against AS Monaco.
The 20-year-old striker, who has made 5 Ligue 1 appearances this season and scored 2 goals, was placed in a cast following the injury. Speaking on OL TV, coach Hubert Fournier confirmed the setback:
“It’s a serious sprain, he’ll be out between four and six weeks. It’s a shame because Yacine was in good form, especially in the league.”
This injury comes at a frustrating time for Benzia, who had just begun to find his rhythm, scoring in his last two Ligue 1 appearances. Fortunately for Lyon, the winter break will help cushion the blow somewhat, allowing the club to manage his absence with fewer fixtures.
