Samuel Umtiti Confident Ahead of Lyon’s Clash with High-Flying Marseille
While Marseille’s impressive start to the Ligue 1 season continues to dominate headlines in France, Lyon has quietly built a strong run of their own. Unbeaten in their last six matches, Les Gones are gaining momentum ahead of their much-anticipated Matchday 11 clash against OM at the Stade Gerland.
Central defender Samuel Umtiti, a key figure in Lyon’s recent resurgence, believes his side has nothing to envy about their southern rivals.
“In recent matches, I think we have nothing to envy them for,” said the Franco-Cameroonian to 20 Minutes. “There’s a good spirit, we’re playing good football, we just have to do it over several matches. That’s what we lacked compared to OM at the start of the season.”
Acknowledging Marseille’s form, Umtiti added with a smile:
“Marseille are strong, but we have to take them on at some point or another (laughs)!”
The upcoming showdown promises to be a true test for both teams as Lyon looks to stake its claim as a legitimate contender in the league.
