Samuel Umtiti: “Aulas’s Strategy? It Benefits the Group”
Amid the controversy stirred by Jean-Michel Aulas’s recent statements—particularly his criticism of Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s reduced suspension—Samuel Umtiti has opted for calm and focus.
The 21-year-old Lyon defender downplayed the off-field noise, choosing instead to view his president’s vocal approach as a positive influence on the team.
“It’s not really my business! It’s the president who manages that, who manages his communication. If he does it, it’s for a reason,” Umtiti told L’Équipe. “This strategy is surely profitable for the group. I don’t know if he does it in relation to us, but he has always been a protective president.”
Umtiti remains confident and committed to OL’s title ambitions, as the Ligue 1 season heads into its final stretch. His comments reflect the unity within the Lyon camp and the players’ willingness to stay focused despite distractions surrounding the club’s outspoken leader.
