The 21-year-old Lyon defender downplayed the off-field noise, choosing instead to view his president’s vocal approach as a positive influence on the team.
“It’s not really my business! It’s the president who manages that, who manages his communication. If he does it, it’s for a reason,” Umtiti told L’Équipe. “This strategy is surely profitable for the group. I don’t know if he does it in relation to us, but he has always been a protective president.”
