Samuel Umtiti Promises More Creative Celebrations After Selfie Moment with Lacazette
Olympique Lyonnais’ defender Samuel Umtiti added some flair to Ligue 1 last weekend, not just by scoring the equalizer in Lyon’s 1-1 draw against Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes, but also with his now-viral selfie celebration alongside teammate Alexandre Lacazette.
While the moment took many by surprise, Umtiti revealed ahead of OL’s midweek clash against Lorient that the celebration had been in the works for a while.
“No, we hadn’t rehearsed the selfie, but we had been talking about it for some time and it happened,” Umtiti said. “If Alexandre has the opportunity to score, we’ll do the same, or other things we’ve planned. It’s fun, it’s funny, we’re trying to be innovative. There are celebrations coming up that might surprise some people. I hope we’ll have the opportunity to celebrate goals regularly.”
