Samuel Umtiti Keeps Future at Lyon Open Amid Transfer Speculation
Samuel Umtiti has addressed recent rumours linking him with a move away from Olympique Lyonnais, insisting he remains happy at the club despite expressing a desire to explore new opportunities.
The Franco-Cameroonian defender, who shares the same agent as teammate Clément Grenier, reportedly requested permission to leave Lyon in recent weeks. However, speaking on the sidelines of Lyon’s friendly match against Sevilla on Wednesday, Umtiti appeared to temper expectations of an imminent transfer.
“There are no discussions, I’m happy at OL,” Umtiti told Canal+. “Talk of a transfer is not yet on the agenda. I’ve never questioned the possibility of staying at Lyon. I’m happy here.”
While the player’s future remains uncertain, it is clear that Umtiti is carefully considering his options and is in no rush to leave the Ligue 1 club.
With interest reportedly growing from other European teams, the next few weeks will be crucial in determining whether Umtiti stays put or seeks a new challenge elsewhere.
