With just four days left in Ligue 1, the competition for a European place is heating up. Olympique Lyonnais is setting its sights on securing fourth place in the league. To achieve this goal, Les Gones must secure a victory against Bastia in their upcoming match as part of the 35th day.
Samuel Umtiti emphasized the importance of aiming for fourth place, stating, “The objective is indeed fourth place. We are capable of it. We have a very competitive group, and we have shown it this season. Finishing fourth would be better for us, although we don’t think too much about the preliminary round.”
While competition from Marseille and Saint-Etienne looms, Umtiti stressed that Lyon’s primary concern is securing fourth place. He acknowledged the upcoming match against Marseille as crucial for determining the end-of-season standings, especially for securing fourth or fifth place.
“We know that Marseille is behind us, but we are going to go there. The meeting will be very important for the end of the season, for 4th and 5th place. It’s not going to be easy, but we must not give up,” Umtiti added. He also noted that the remaining matches against teams with nothing to play for could pose challenges, requiring Lyon to remain focused and determined.
