Olympique Lyonnais midfielder Mahamadou Diawara is reportedly seeking a move away from the club in the January transfer window to secure more playing time.
The 19-year-old has struggled for opportunities this season, featuring in only four matches across all competitions and amassing just 37 minutes on the pitch.
Frustrated by his limited role, Diawara is eager to explore options that would allow him to develop further.
Lyon had previously turned down approaches from Nantes, Reims, Brest, Montpellier, and Celtic during the summer transfer window, as the club viewed the young talent as a key part of its long-term plans.
Diawara, who is under contract until 2028, was expected to contribute to Lyon’s campaign.
However, according to L’Équipe, the player recently approached the club’s management to discuss a potential move.
This development appears to have prompted a shift in Lyon’s stance. While the club remains keen to retain him, it is now reportedly more open to the idea of a loan deal that would offer Diawara valuable game time.
A permanent transfer, though less likely, has not been entirely ruled out. The clubs that expressed interest in the summer could reignite their pursuit of the talented midfielder when the transfer window reopens in January.
Diawara’s future remains uncertain, but a resolution seems likely in the coming months as Lyon seeks to balance the player’s development with its own sporting objectives.
