Lyon: Mehdi Zeffane Set for Possible Loan Move This Winter
At just 22 years old, Mehdi Zeffane is struggling to find regular playing time at Olympique Lyonnais, where the defensive hierarchy is firmly held by Samuel Umtiti and Bakary Koné. Despite his talent, the Algerian international remains on the fringes of the squad and is now considering a loan move during the winter transfer window.
Zeffane, who has been called up to represent Algeria at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, is eager to gain more competitive minutes. According to L’Équipe, several Ligue 2 clubs have shown interest in acquiring the right-back on loan to bolster their defenses.
While the names of these potential suitors have not been disclosed, the move could provide Zeffane with the much-needed match rhythm before and after his participation in AFCON 2015. A loan spell could also help the Lyon academy product build confidence and showcase his potential on a more regular basis.
