Signed by Manchester United for €38 million following a standout start at Villarreal, Eric Bailly has struggled to establish himself in England. Recent reports suggest that the Red Devils plan to part ways with the Ivorian defender at the end of the season, opening the door for potential suitors.
Olympique Lyonnais, seeking to strengthen their central defense for next season, have reportedly placed Bailly at the top of their transfer wishlist. According to L’Equipe, Lyon are eager to secure the 25-year-old as part of their future defensive pairing.
However, the transfer is expected to be complicated. Club president Jean-Michel Aulas and his management team would need to cover a substantial fee, estimated around €30 million, in addition to Bailly’s significant salary. Such an outlay could place a considerable strain on Lyon’s finances, making the deal a challenging but potentially transformative acquisition for the French side.
