Lyon Coach Urges Fékir and Lacazette to Stay Amid Transfer Speculation
As Olympique Lyonnais continues to shine, thanks in part to the stellar performances of Nabil Fékir and Alexandre Lacazette, speculation surrounding their future has reached a boiling point. Both players have been crucial in Lyon’s successful season, with Fékir netting 11 goals and Lacazette contributing 23, attracting the attention of some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
However, Lyon’s head coach, Hubert Fournier, is keen to retain his key strikers for the time being. In an interview with Le Progrès, Fournier advised his attacking duo to stay put for at least another season, emphasizing the importance of stability ahead of the upcoming UEFA European Championship. “If I were their agent, I would tell them to stay here for a little while longer. With the Euros just a year away, leaving now would be an unwise risk,” said Fournier.
This advice comes amid growing concern within the Lyon camp that a potential departure could disrupt their momentum and the players’ individual aspirations ahead of the summer tournament. The coach’s comments reflect the club’s desire to maintain its strong squad while balancing the ambition of two of France’s most sought-after talents.
