According to L’Equipe, Rudi Garcia, the manager of AS Roma, has reportedly directed the club’s recruitment unit to explore the possibility of signing Bafétimbi Gomis. Despite the change in circumstances at Olympique Lyonnais (OL), Gomis is still awaiting a potential departure.
AS Roma, looking to fill the void left by Erik Lamela’s move to Tottenham, could now consider pursuing the option of signing Gomis, who is well known to Rudi Garcia. Gomis, a French international, has expressed a desire to move to a German club, as stated by Jean-Michel Aulas, the president of OL.
With Newcastle withdrawing interest and an offer from Marseille still pending (4 million euros plus bonuses), the resolution of the Gomis transfer saga remains uncertain. Aulas expressed frustration, stating, “The situation is blocked.” Despite discussions spanning a year and a half, Gomis has reportedly rejected six offers with higher salaries than what OL currently provides, according to Eurosport. The situation may, however, see developments as the end of the transfer window approaches.
