In an interview with RMC, Fékir expressed his gratitude for the trust his coach had shown. He said, “Last year, I didn’t get much playing time (11 matches). This year, the coach has complete confidence in me. I played almost every match. A player gains confidence by playing.”
That newfound confidence led to Didier Deschamps calling him up for the French national team, despite Fékir’s initial desire to represent Algeria. He explained that after some reflection, he is now fully committed to France. He added, “I’m very happy to have chosen the French team. I don’t regret it at all. It’s a definitive choice.”
Playing against Brazil in March was a highlight for Fékir, as it marked his first selection for France. That moment, in front of the French public, was special for him, and he now aims to show Deschamps that he deserves a spot in Euro 2016.
