Luzenac: Cheick Bangré Discusses His Future After the Tragedy

Luzenac’s Collapse Leaves Players Scrambling to Rebuild Careers

The recent turmoil surrounding Luzenac AP has left many of its players facing an uncertain future, forced to quickly find new opportunities to salvage their professional football careers.

For some, the club’s collapse came as a shock, while others foresaw the difficulties ahead and made early moves to safeguard their futures. Among those caught in the fallout is 20-year-old defensive midfielder Cheick Bangre, who reflects on the painful experience of a dream deferred.

“By signing for Luzenac, I thought I was fulfilling my dream by signing my first professional contract. Unfortunately, that was not to be,” Bangre said candidly. “It was a very difficult period because the whole episode dragged on for a long time. It felt like an emotional rollercoaster. But despite everything, the team remained very united.”

Despite the setback, Bangre remains determined to move forward. “I’m now looking for a club where I can bounce back and get regular playing time to continue my development and return to the highest level. Ideally, a national-level club would be best, since I was meant to be playing in Ligue 2,” he added.

As Luzenac’s players strive to rebuild their careers, their resilience will be tested in the coming months — a crucial period to determine their professional futures.
