Luzenac Refuses to Give Up: Legal Battle for Ligue 2 Reinstatement Continues
Despite officially shutting down its professional section and restarting in the DHR (Division d’Honneur Régionale) a little over a month ago, Luzenac Ariège Pyrénées (LAP) is far from conceding defeat in its battle for Ligue 2 reinstatement.
While the Administrative Court of Toulouse had previously ruled against their promotion, and the club announced its drop to the amateur level in early September, the legal and sporting struggle continues. The SASP (professional sporting company) of Luzenac remains active, and head coach Christophe Pelissier and assistant Jean-Marie Stéphanopoli are still contractually tied to the club.
In an interview with La Dépêche, club president Jérôme Ducros affirmed his unwavering commitment:
“I work every day for one to two hours for LAP. We are here, we are holding firm even with empty premises.”
He revealed that in two to three weeks, LAP’s legal team — Maîtres Frédéric Carol and Jean-Jacques Bertrand — will file a new appeal with the Toulouse Administrative Court. The club seeks both reinstatement in Ligue 2 and financial compensation for the damages suffered.
The case of Luzenac, a small village club that earned its promotion on the pitch only to be blocked administratively, continues to stir controversy and debate in French football. As the legal saga unfolds, the club’s supporters remain hopeful that justice will eventually be served — on and off the field.
