Luther Singh scores as Relebohile Mofokeng assists, while Sipho Mbule sees red

Luther Singh and Relebohile Mofokeng were among the South African players to impress abroad this weekend, while Sipho Mbule was sent off during Zakho’s defeat by Al-Karma.

Singh scored for AEL Limassol as they beat Pafos 2-0 in Cyprus. Mihlali Mayambela was an unused substitute for Omonia, who recorded a 4-1 victory over Krasava.

In Belgium, Mofokeng continued his strong spell of form by providing an assist in Union Saint-Gilloise’s 2-0 league win against Royal Antwerp.

Shandre Campbell played 74 minutes for Kortrijk, who claimed a narrow 1-0 victory over Beveren.

Mbule’s match in Iraq ended after 50 minutes when he was dismissed, with Zakho eventually losing to Al-Karma.

Ime Okon made a brief appearance for Hannover 96 in Germany. The centre-back played for four minutes as his side secured a 2-1 Bundesliga 2 win over Bochum.

Aden McCarthy made his sixth consecutive appearance for Sabah in Azerbaijan as he continued to establish himself in the team’s defence. Sabah defeated Imisli FK 3-1.

Yusuf Maart completed the full 90 minutes for Ried in Austria as they beat Wolfsberger AC 4-1. His fellow South African Jaedin Rhodes played for 55 minutes before being substituted.

In Major League Soccer, Puso Dithejane came on for the final 22 minutes as Chicago Fire were beaten 3-0 by Nashville SC.

Bongokuhle Hlongwane returned to the Minnesota United bench after recovering from the injury that had kept him out since August. Minnesota United were nevertheless defeated 3-2 by LA Galaxy.

In Ghana, Eric Tinker’s Asante Kotoko were held to a 1-1 draw by Samartex. The result leaves Asante Kotoko with one win and two draws from their opening three matches.
