Luis Suárez Returns to Training with Barcelona Following CAS Appeal
Luis Suárez returned to training with Barcelona on Friday for the first time since receiving a lengthy ban for biting Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup. The Uruguayan striker had his suspension partially lifted after a successful appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, allowing him to rejoin his new teammates at the Joan Gamper Sports City.
Speaking to Barça TV after the session, Suárez reflected on the ordeal. “This situation made me feel uncomfortable. I’m paying for my mistake, for which I’ve already apologized. I think we can now move on. I’m happy to be a footballer again, to be able to train with my teammates,” he said. “I was really looking forward to it. I dreamed of coming to play here. Now I’ll be able to see the fans and experience that unique feeling of playing in a stadium like the Camp Nou.”
The former Liverpool forward also acknowledged the scale of the challenge ahead. “I am aware of the challenge that awaits me now — playing for this club that is Barça.”
